Our new board member has not yet been in office for 100 days – so in that respect, a journalistic grace period still applies. However, we have already asked Stefanie Weidner a few questions about her new position!
How have your colleagues on the board received you?
SW: I now feel very much included and appreciated, although or perhaps precisely because I am not a „classic structural engineer“, but have a different focus and a different way of communicating.
Up to now, our company has been run by men – what was it like to join as a woman and an architect?
SW: Each and every one of us has their own individual focus and character traits. Gender shouldn’t really matter. What’s important is that it works when we work together. My architectural background helps me to understand issues in other fields, too, and to position us even better as an integrated and interdisciplinary planning office.
What are your goals for the next 12 months?
SW: Oh, I have quite a few, both internally in the area of quality assurance and integral sustainability, and with regard to our range of services and external image. However, I quickly realised that such things cannot be easily and arbitrarily reorganised in a company with around 450 employees. Initiating and designing various processes in cooperation with operational and administrative colleagues is a very exciting task for me, and one that I continue to look forward to.
