BIM Award 2016
Werner Sobek has been awarded a special prize in the framework of the BIM Award 2016 competition. The award honour’s our innovative solutions for the use of BIM technology in the design and engineering of the National Museum of Qatar. The design for the new National Museum of Qatar by Jean Nouvel is inspired by the organic-crystallic shape of a desert rose. The sculptural architecture is determined by ca. 500 different disc-shaped volumes that intersect and form an overall envelope surface of ca.106,000 sqm. 70,000 individually shaped FRC panels on a customized substructure are used to clad the building.
