Build for More with Less
In his 11th thesis, Werner Sobek warns that the unrestrained extraction of raw materials must come to an end. Not only because many resources will no longer be available in the foreseeable future – but also because because the environmental damage associated with the extraction, processing and transport of raw materials is no longer acceptable for our planet.
Construction accounts for a large part of raw material consumption and emissions. Our goal must therefore be, in view of a further growing world population, to create an appropriate built environment for more people with less material and without emissions.
Until the end of October 2022, the Architekturzentrum in the Stadtmuseum Düsseldorf is showing the exhibition “Werner Sobek: 17 Statements”. It deals with the ecological impact and responsibility of the building industry.
