Climate-Friendly Supporting Structure for New Residential District
In a richly illustrated article, the magazine “Architectural Record” pays tribute to our Berlin structural engineering project Die Macherei(M60). The design for the conversion of the commercial high-rise from the 1970s into a mixed-use residential district was created by Sauerbruch Hutton.
The building’s structure is characterised by the use of Cobiax technology, in which lightweight plastic void formers replace the heavy concrete in a reinforced concrete floor wherever this is structurally possible.
In addition to structural design, Werner Sobek is also responsible for the BIM services for this beautiful project, which successfully combines engineering and sustainability.
