Crossing the Tracks with a New Vigour
In Berlin-Pankow, the 47-metre-long Schönfließer Brücke is being built to provide a convenient crossing through the middle of Prenzlauer Berg. Werner Sobek was commissioned with the structural and architectural design of the steel bridge, which spans a track bed without supports.
The Schönfließer Bridge replaces a road bridge that was badly damaged during the war and only repaired in a makeshift manner. It is part of the expansion of the cycle network in Berlin.
