DGNB Diamond for KII – We are Proud!
Completed in 2020, the KII Ensemble was awarded the DGNB Diamond Award in February 2023 for its remarkable and ambitious architecture penned by the architectural firm Ingenhoven. The rare recognition is in addition to the DGNB Platinum certification that KII received for its highest sustainability rating ever achieved for a commercial building.
The mixed-use retail and office building achieves an iconic quality through the experiment of the green facade designed by Werner Sobek with more than 30,000 hornbeams. In addition, the publicly accessible lawn on the roof of the adjacent pavilion building expands the spacious Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz, which significantly enhances its attractiveness and quality of life.
In 2016, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB) created the Diamond Award, the first and only sustainability rating system that promotes excellence in architecture during the planning and construction phases.
