Engineering Made in Stuttgart
The Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart is a striking landmark of the city and impressively underlines the innovative power of one of the world’s leading car manufacturers. Werner Sobek won the competition for the planning of the building in 2001 together with the architectural office UNStudio. After a planning and construction period of five years, the museum opened its doors in time for the 2006 World Cup and is still one of the most visited buildings in Stuttgart.
Prof. Thomas Winterstetter, project manager for the structural design of the museum and partner of Werner Sobek AG, explains the special features and challenges of planning this unique building.
Many thanks to the staff of the Mercedes-Benz Museum for their support during the filming.
