Garzweiler: Sustainability Consultancy for a Fossil-Free Future

Together with the Aachen University of Applied Sciences and the city of Mönchengladbach, the Landfolge Garzweiler special-purpose association is building a multidisciplinary network to promote exchange and cooperation on various aspects of sustainable construction in the region. In this context, Werner Sobek was commissioned to provide sustainability consultancy for structural aspects.

After the coal phase-out in 2030, many areas around the Garzweiler open-cast mine will become available for new uses and construction. The project Excellence Region Sustainable Construction Garzweiler is intended to promote resource-efficient and circular construction in the region.
