In a Nutshell: Our Colleague Sina Wind Answers Questions about the Berlin Project “B-One”
Berlin Hyp is having its new company headquarters built according to the latest ecological standards. Werner Sobek is responsible for the quality assurance of the facade at “B-One”. Our team leader Sina Windt explains why this service is essential for the success of a project.
What services are we providing for this attractive project and what are its special features from a planning perspective?
We were brought into the project team by the project controller bdp real estate GmbH in an advisory capacity for the client. The aim of our assignment was to ensure the quality of the sophisticated JURA natural stone facade. It was important to eliminate any discrepancies before the implementation planning and to ensure a smooth construction process at a later stage. Special features of this project were the heavily terraced vertical offsets on the one hand and the combination of different materials on the other. The design by C.F. Møller Architects also includes vertical and horizontal stone cladding in addition to the large glass facades, which makes the bright facade look very lively. In addition, PV modules and ZIP awnings were integrated into the vertical stone cladding in the facade.
Why is quality control so important when realising a facade – and what role do we play in this?
With the design by the architectural firm C.F. Møller, the client decided on a high-quality and durable facade. Since facade constructions are becoming increasingly complex in terms of their requirements and the interfaces between the individual trades are also becoming more intertwined, a well-founded quality management system is very important from the client’s point of view. In our advisory capacity, various design options were discussed and prepared for the client’s decision.
What is particularly important when working with other project participants – and who are the most important partners here?
The most important thing is to work as a team with the other companies involved in the project, because we all have a common goal – the project should be completed to the full satisfaction of the client. The focus here is on the quality of the work, the time frame and the budget. It was a great collaboration! Many thanks to Ralf Liedtke, the project manager from bdp, and his team, as well as to Jürgen Weise from Berlin Hyp and to Andreas Otte and the team from Züblin.
