National Museum of Katar

In-Depth Expertise and Intercultural Competence

The National Museum of Qatar was built as part of the development of Doha into a global financial, cultural and tourist centre. Our office was involved in this major project in a number of ways: in addition to providing comprehensive advice, construction supervision and interface management in the area of the building envelope, we also took on the role of BIM technical coordinator. As part of this activity, a team of WS employees was constantly present at the construction site in Doha.

Werner Sobek was honoured with the 2016 BIM Award for its innovative application of BIM technology – the largest BIM model in the world at the time was created for the National Museum Qatar.

The building, which features a highly complex shell in the shape of sand roses, was designed by the renowned Parisian architect Jean Nouvel.
