Low Surface Sealing, Barrier-Free
At a listed weir in the east of Tübingen, Werner Sobek planned a bicycle bridge made of reinforced concrete composite with steel mesh railings. With the new structure, the Neckar can now be crossed directly without ramps. The sandbanks, water birds and floodplain landscapes in the natural area below the barrage can be experienced from above, and the structure also offers fascinating insights into the technology of the hydroelectric power plant. The existing bank walls were used as bridge abutments, which made it possible to avoid sealing large areas.
