Pretty Sustainable
In an interview with the magazine “Hotel+Technik“, our colleague Bernd Köhler talks about the circular construction of the future. Using the example of the experimental UMAR unit we planned in Dübendorf, Switzerland, Bernd Köhler shows that circular projects can not only be sustainable, but also aesthetically pleasing.
Together with Dirk E. Hebel and Felix Heisel, Werner Sobek planned the UMAR (Urban Mining and Recycling) experimental unit on the campus of the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa). All the resources required to construct the building are fully reusable, recyclable or compostable.
