Scientists Call for a Radical Rethink of Climate Policy
“The bottom line is that we haven’t saved anything,” explains our company founder Werner Sobek in an interview with Wirtschaftswoche about the “Initiative practical path to CO2 reduction in the building sector”, which he co-founded: he criticises Germany’s one-sided focus on energy efficiency and calls for a radical change of course in climate policy instead.
It is no wonder that the initiative attracted so much media attention shortly after its launch, given the continuing rise in CO2 levels worldwide. “The way out of Germany’s building misery” was the headline of an article in Die Welt on the publication of the manifesto – several media outlets even spoke of a “U-turn in the building sector”.
Together with the four fellow scientists Prof Elisabeth Endres (TU Braunschweig), Prof Dr Manfred Norbert Fisch (TU Braunschweig), Prof Dirk Hebel (KIT) and Prof Dietmar Walberg (TH Lübeck), Werner Sobek has therefore launched the initiative.
