Sophisticated Daylight Planning for Art Collector’s Villa
In the seaside resort of Batroun, a Lebanese art collector had a very special residence created for his family. All the rooms of the Villa Papillon are arranged around an unroofed inner courtyard – Werner Sobek was specially commissioned to plan the daylighting design.
Thus, slats of steel and aluminum trellises continue the folded shape of the green building roof over parts of the inner courtyard. They are precisely arranged to provide shade in the summer and sufficient sunlight in the winter months, thus ensuring the perfect play of light in the artistic ambience.
