Special Facade Ensures Good Eco-Balance
Sauerbruch Hutton Architekten designed the KfW Westarkade office complex in Frankfurt’s Westend district; we were responsible for the structural and facade engineering of the 60 metre high building. A special feature of the building is the fully glazed facade. This so-called wind pressure double facade was specially developed for the project. It ensures natural ventilation with high insulation performance and highly efficient solar shading at the same time.
The individual panels of the facade reflect the colours of the surroundings. Incidentally, the building was recognised as the best high-rise building in Europe by the CTBUH in 2011.
