Hamburg Wharfs Bridges

Steel Profiles, Wooden Planks and a Handrail that Invites You to Linger

The Hamburg Wharfs Bridges with spans of 15 to 60 metres span the canals and streets of the Speicherstadt. We were responsible for the structural engineering of the bridge train made of steel profiles with a total length of over 600 metres. The bridges were planned by Schweger und Partner. The wood-planked walkway is located above the highest flood level and has a handrail that invites people to lean and linger thanks to its feel and design.

The so called “escape bridges” ensure that pedestrians can leave the Speicherstadt safely and dry-footed in the event of flooding.
