The Principle of Lightweight Construction

As part of its “Anatomy of Structures” exhibition, the Moscow School of Architecture MARCH orga-nized a series of public lectures to which Lucio Blandini was also invited. Prof. Blandini – Director of the Institute for Lightweight Construction (ILEK) at the University of Stuttgart and Chairman of Werner Sobek AG – gave a lecture on “Lightweight Facades: Past, Present and Future”. He reported on the development of lightweight construction over the past decades as well as on how the principle of lightweight construction can contribute to greater sustainability in the future.
