The Wonderful World of Materials

The new permanent exhibition “Material Worlds” has been on display at the Vienna Technical Museum since April 2025. With the help of more than 400 exhibits, the exhibition is dedicated to the extraction, processing and application of a wide variety of materials. Among other things, a 1:1 model of an innovative ceiling system developed at the ILEK (Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design) of the University of Stuttgart can be seen. This model shows how mass savings of up to 50% can be achieved with the help of the graded concrete developed by Werner Sobek.
