Wavy Glass Facade with Bird Protection
At the end of 2024, the German TV channel wdr showed a film with a tour of the construction site and through the track hall of Duisburg Central Station – this will be modernised and converted by 2028. Werner Sobek is responsible for the engineering of the wave-shaped steel-and-glass facade, whose large openings provide natural daylight. The bird-safe glass used meets the latest nature conservation regulations.
The new concourse was designed by DB Station&Service AG, Duisburg.
