Werner Sobek Receives the Emil Mörsch Memorial Medal

For his pioneering work in the fields of lightweight construction with concrete as well as sustainability and climate protection in the construction industry, the Deutsche Beton- und Bautechnik-Verein e.V. has honoured Prof. Werner Sobek with the Emil-Mörsch-Denkmünze. The awarding of the commemorative coin took place on 16 March 2023 in the Berlin Meistersaal on the occasion of the German Civil Engineering Day.

The commemorative coin was awarded for the first time in 1938 on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the association. It is named after the civil engineer Emil Mörsch (1872-1950). It is awarded every two years and honours personalities who have promoted concrete construction and distinguished themselves in this field.
