Werner Sobek Supports “Engineers Without Borders”
The past year was also characterized by difficulties in the construction industry. We are therefore all the more grateful that we were able to successfully complete 2024 despite all the challenges – a good reason to think about how we can help others. With a donation to “Engineers without Borders”, we have therefore supported the Rising Star Primary School in Hopley, Zimbabwe.
Hopley is located in the metropolitan area of the capital Harare. The district was created in 2005 in the course of forced resettlement – to this day, it lacks any kind of infrastructure such as paved roads, electricity, water or sewage supply.
A neighborhood initiative founded the Rising Star Primary School there in 2010, where classes were initially held in the open air. From 2016 to 2023, “Engineers without Borders” worked with project partners to construct solid, modern and architecturally high-quality buildings for the elementary school and kindergarten.
We invited the responsible project manager from Engineers Without Borders to tell us about the work on this exciting project in a virtual lunch talk at the end of January.
