Aktivhaus Künzelsau
A new development of four modular timber residential buildings Aktivhaus Künzelsau was constructed on a plot of land between the Taläckerallee and Defregger Straße thoroughfares in the German town of Künzelsau. The buildings offer a total of 80 residential units on four storeys and can be reached via access balconies and two open lift systems located between the buildings themselves.
Eco-Friendly Housing in Modular Timber Construction
The development’s energy rating was engineered to equal that of an Efficiency House 40 in the Renewable Energy class (EE), a standard that requires both particularly low thermal transmittance coefficients and a construction with few thermal bridges. The project is able to achieve this energy rating with the help of an air-to-water heat pump with electric reheating capabilities and a photovoltaic installation that generates power. Hot water is produced via decentralized systems that use instantaneous water heaters situated in the buildings’ heat interface units.
