Bremen University

The extension of a tram line to the centre of the University of Bremen created a changed urban situation, which is why its central area was redesigned. The result is a 15-metre-high reception hall covered by a filigree steel and glass construction.

Filigree Steel and Glass Construction Covers Central Entrance

All side surfaces and the entire roof of the hall are made of glass. The only load-bearing structure for the facades are vertically tensioned cables supported by springs.

Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural engineering of the shell, facade and special structures for this project.
