Bridge Lüdenscheid

Werner Sobek was responsible for the object planning and structural engineering of the new pedestrian bridge at Lüdenscheid’s main railway station. It spans the railway tracks and is the central connecting element of the Lüdenscheid Denkfabrik, which includes the Phänomenta, parts of the FH Südwestfalen and infrastructure facilities such as the ZOB and railway station.

Elegant and Central Connecting Element

The bridge consists of two steel arches slightly inclined towards each other. The arches are formed by a hollow profile that is hexagonal in cross-section. This creates a two-part elevation edge, which contributes significantly to the elegant appearance of the bridge. A steel girder grid with a thin cover plate forms the bridge deck. It runs at a slight angle and is attached to the arches in sections via hinge bolts.
