Bürgerhaus Weil im Schönbuch

A new community centre in timber and reinforced concrete construction is being built at the ‘Feuerwehrsee’ in the centre of Weil im Schönbuch. The design comes from the Munich office of Auer Weber Assoziierte GmbH, Werner Sobek is responsible for several aspects of this beautiful project: in addition to the structural engineering, facade planning and thermal building physics, we were commissioned with the building and room acoustics, the life cycle assessment, the KFN funding and, last but not least, the DGNB certification.

Climate-friendly New Building in Schönbuch

In addition to an event hall for up to 750 people with a stage and foyer, the new community centre will also include kitchen rooms for catering as well as other ancillary rooms and technical areas. Due to the hillside location, large parts of the building are at ground level – the roof above the ground floor serves as a terrace, which can be reached via an external staircase and merges seamlessly into the meadow.

The wooden beam roof above the upper floor is covered with PV modules that power a geothermal heat pump for heating and cooling. The building is a “climate-friendly new build” subsidised by the federal government.
