Depot Mannheim
The new depot of the city of Mannheim is divided into two L-shaped structures that house the administration, vehicle hall, storage rooms and workshops. The buildings were constructed in a mixed construction of reinforced concrete and wood. The material of the load-bearing elements was selected according to the type of stress and their specific properties. Thus, the stiffening of the buildings was mainly done by cores and wall plates made of reinforced concrete.
Mix of Reinforced Concrete & Wood
The upper floor of the administration building and the roof structure of the halls have a span of up to 20 metres. They were constructed in a lightweight timber construction, which allowed for wide cantilevered areas and gives the buildings a lightness and dynamism.
