EDGE East Side Berlin
EDGE East Side is a new symbol for the Berlin skyline that stands at a height of 142 metres, making it the tallest multi-storey building in the capital city. The project was constructed near Warsaw Bridge, approximately 2.5 km south-east of Alexanderplatz square and is used as Amazon’s German headquarters, hosting more than 3,400 employees.

Werner Sobek was responsible both for the building’s facade and for planning various other aspects of the project that are of particular importance for its sustainability concept. Notable examples of the latter range from the use of circular economy products and VOC-free materials to the provision of first-class energy management.
The building is being certified in accordance with DGNB and WELL and aims to achieve the DGNB’s Platinum award, the organisation’s highest accolade.
