Erde 2.0

On the occasion of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the state of Baden-Württemberg, a future exhibition was held in Stuttgart in the summer of 2002. It presented sustainable and innovative technologies. The exhibition’s fields of action were housed in three organic spatial bodies that seemed to float in an open supporting scaffolding.

Scaffolding as Supporting Structure and Essential Design Element

The high-lying and low-lying spatial bodies were connected to each other via ramps within the scaffolding structure and differed in shape and size. A membrane construction divided by semi-transparent fields formed the translucent spatial envelope of the individual action fields. The scaffolding that surrounded the spatial bodies was the complex supporting structure and at the same time an essential design element of the exhibition.
