Federal Institute for Material Testing
A laboratory and research building for the Federal Institute for Materials Testing (BAM) is being constructed on a site measuring almost 21,000 m². Werner Sobek has been commissioned with the BNB certification for this project.
In the first construction phase, laboratories and offices, test halls and workshops are to be built – a reception area, several meeting rooms and areas for central services including a service yard are also planned.
Innovative solutions for resource-saving construction
Because the construction is to be implemented in a particularly economical and resource-saving manner, the urban density on site poses a particular challenge. All of this calls for innovative solutions in planning and execution, especially as the federal government, as the client bears a special responsibility for building culture and is committed to sustainability with its buildings.
The project aims to achieve silver certification for laboratory buildings and outdoor facilities in accordance with the Assessment System for Sustainable Building (BNB). To ensure successful project implementation, the project team consisting of several parties is using BIM, which covers the entire life cycle of the building, including subsequent operation.
