Federal Institute for Medicinal Products

Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural and facade engineering for the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices project in Bonn. The entrance hall of the central building is supported by steel swords and has a glass facade that corresponds with the surroundings. In addition, the institute has been given a lecture hall, seminar rooms, a canteen, a kitchen, a library, various meeting rooms, rooms used as offices, archives and social rooms.

The laboratory building comprises an administrative area with approx. 22,900 m² of programme floor space and approx. 3,660 m² for the scientific area (laboratory). The underground car park with 330 parking spaces extends over two storeys.

The landscaping of the new Federal Institute blends harmoniously with that of the Rhine meadows. The administration and laboratory buildings are connected to the transverse buildings via connecting bridges.
