Galeria Kaufhof Chemnitz

The five storeys high reinforced concrete structure is clad with thermal glazing units which are one storey high. These glazing panels measure 4 m x 2 m; they are secured horizontally by only four clips each.

Glass Roof with 13 m Free Cantilever

In the area of the main entrance and the steel emergency stairs the facade is suspended over its entire height and stiffened by glass or steel fins having a horizontal span of up to 18 m. A glass roof measuring approximately 180 m x 60 m links the Kaufhof building with the car park. Being supported by cylindrical columns, the roof appears to float two metres above the edge of the building.
