Global Tower

The Global Tower is a relaunched, revitalised version of the former Commerzbank office development that was constructed on the site back in 1972. The main body of the tower consists of a four-storey base building topped by a high-rise structure in two linked sections that reaches the 30th floor at its tallest point. The base building also adjoins an auditorium and sits above three subterranean levels that are given over to building services and storage facilities.

Refurbishment of the Appearance of the Listed Facade

A full programme of renovations and remodelling work was carried out on the entirety of the structure. This included reorganising all the spaces within the building to transform it into a premium, modern office tower. The listed appearance was preserved during the energy-efficient refurbishment of the facade. The underground car park was redesigned and the entrance area was converted into a two-storey entrance lobby.

Renovating the listed facade and updating it to meet the latest technical specifications while also retaining its original appearance proved a particularly challenging aspect of the undertaking overall.

Werner Sobek was responsible for the project’s structural engineering and building physics.
