Grasbrook Gate

Werner Sobek is responsible for the structural design of the Grasbrooker Tor project. The bridge for the extension of the U4 urban railway line consists of three structures. The Danish firm Cobe A/S Architekten used a uniform design language for the design, which is also followed by the construction principles of the three structures (Elbe bridge, viaduct and Moldauhafen station). The steel structures each consist of a truss girder and a box girder.

The major Hamburg project ‘Leap over the Elbe’ represents a sustainable urban development strategy in the heart of the city. The extension of the U4 underground line is a key building block for the mobility transition and the climate-friendly development of the Grasbrook and Veddel districts.
