Hamburg Expo
The roof structure of the New Hamburg Trade Fair Centre consists of a modular system. It is made up of two main components, a steel girder grid as the “substructure” and a series of several wooden barrel shells that are supported on the steel grid.
Modular System as a Prototype
With this modular system, a simple and efficient supporting structure for exhibition halls can be realised, which can be easily adapted to the different hall geometries.
Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural engineering of the roof structure at the Hamburg exhibition halls.
