Railway Basel-Wiesekorridor

Werner Sobek is currently supporting the construction of the new Wiese Corridor Railway Overpass by providing structural checking engineering services that include site supervision as part of the checking engineering process. This work is being carried out on behalf of design review engineers Prof. Hans Georg Reinke and Dr.-Ing. Jens. U. Neuser.

Measuring a grand total of 154 metres in length, the overpass takes the form of a semi-integral, six-span, prestressed concrete bridge whose piers are connected monolithically with its superstructure. This bridge structure is supported on deep foundations with large bored piles located directly beneath each of its piers.

Site Supervision for a Railway Overpass

The Wiese Corridor Railway Overpass forms part of Deutsche Bahn’s major Karlsruhe–Basel construction project that connects Germany with Switzerland and provides the final section of new high-speed double-track railway line leading up to Basel station.
