Redevelopment of the G+V Site
A new factory outlet centre was completed in 2018 on the former factory site of the cloth manufacturer Gaenslen & Völter in Metzingen. In addition to two boarding houses, it includes various commercial and administrative buildings, office space and restaurants as well as an underground car park with approx. 240 parking spaces. Existing buildings were converted and new buildings erected in two construction phases.
Innovative Energy Concept with Sprinkler Tanks
The use of a sprinkler tank as a heat or cold reservoir is the core of Werner Sobek’s sustainable and innovative energy concept. The tank is fed directly on the site from the River Erms. A water-water heat pump uses the thermal mass of the tank to heat or cool the buildings. A gas condensing boiler or the compression chiller cover peak loads.
