Ropeway Cabins

For the 2011 Federal Horticultural Show in Koblenz, Werner Sobek worked closely with Doppelmayr to design key elements of the cable car system that connects Ehrenbreitstein Fortress with the city centre. Werner Sobek was not only responsible for the membrane shells that provide weather protection for the upper and lower stations. The office also designed the graphic design and the interior of the cable car cabins.

Transparent Aesthetics through Economical Use of Materials

The cable car cabins developed for Koblenz pick up on the themes of the Federal Horticultural Show. The cabins are equipped with benches made of natural wood materials. The transparency of the space is emphasised by the sparing use of materials.
