Saale Bridge
Werner Sobek was responsible for designing the new Saale Bridge – a pedestrian and cycle bridge that crosses the river Saale not far from where it meets the river Elbe. Located near the village of Groß Rosenburg, the new bridge will significantly shorten the distances that locals and tourists need to cover when travelling along the Elbe and Saale cycle paths.
Support from the National Climate Protection Fund
By commissioning the new structure, the local Salzland district authority is making a conscious move to promote cycling and hiking as sustainable, climate-friendly forms of mobility that are beneficial to people’s health.
Measuring 275 metres in length and three metres across, the cable-stayed bridge is the first project in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt to receive funding from the National Climate Protection Fund.
