Sculpture “Meistdeutigkeit”
The core of the sculpture by Prof. Olaf Metzel in front of the former German Bundestag in Bonn consists of thin-walled, cross-sectionally U-shaped gutters from bicycle stands. The gutters were spot-welded to each other and to several thin tubes.
Spiral Tower Made of Recycled Bicycle Stands
The resulting spatial supporting structure is made up of several spirals. These in turn were placed inside each other – with their diameter increasing upwards. With a total height of approx. 6.50 m and a maximum diameter of 6 m, the result is a structure that is extremely resilient to wind and snow. Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural engineering of the art project.
