Shanghai Expo
The Shanghai Expo building complex is located in the Pudong district and consists of seventeen halls with a total of 200,000 square metres of indoor exhibition space and another 100,000 square metres of outdoor space. The urban design by Helmut Jahn, Chicago, positioned the spacious and light-flooded exhibition halls in the shape of a triangle. Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural and facade engineering for this charming project.
Triangle of 17 Halls with 200,000 m² of Interior Space
In the first construction phase in 2001, four exhibition halls and the entrance hall were built. The last construction phase of the Shanghai Expo was completed at the end of 2011. With over 100 events per year and an immense turnover rate, the centre is the best-utilised exhibition centre in the world and thus also one of the most successful.
