Sports City Tripoli

Tripoli Sports City consists of ten stadiums near Tripoli. The complex was built in 1967/68 and is still in use. Because most of the stadiums were in a relatively poor condition, they were in urgent need of renovation. Werner Sobek accompanied the renovation work from a structural engineering point of view.

Renovation During Match Operations

First of all, all structural elements were examined for their stability and then strengthened or replaced. Safety was the top priority during the work, but the renovations could be carried out in such a way that normal playing operations were not significantly affected.

In addition to the renovation work, Werner Sobek planned new roofs as shading elements for the spectators. In order to maintain a uniform appearance, all roof and faCade structures were laid out on the basis of a uniform basic grid.
