Stadium Sao Paulo

The new Corinthians Stadium was completed in 2014 in the Itaquera district of the São Paulo metropolis. The stadium, which has 65,000 seats, hosted the opening match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Since then, the stadium – which also integrates a congress centre and shopping facilities – has been used as a regular venue for the Corinthians club and for major events.

Outstanding Achievement Award 2015

Werner Sobek was involved in the project very early on in the design phase and was responsible, among other things, for the structural engineering of the far exciting roof structure as well as the stands made of precast concrete elements.

The Sao Paulo Stadium project received an “Outstanding Achievement Award” from the IFAI (Industrial Fabrics Association International) in 2015.
