Zukunft Münster 2050

In Stuttgart-Münster, residential buildings from the 1930s and 1950s will be replaced by a socially and ecologically sustainable quarter by 2050. Werner Sobek was commissioned to provide sustainability consulting in addition to structural engineering and building physics.

Building Socially Sustainable Infrastructures

Stacked and staggered wooden buildings will be erected for a total of approx. 550 residents. The first construction phase (scheduled for completion in 2027) comprises 67 residential units and an open underground car park without a floor slab. For this purpose, the demolition of the old buildings and a gradual relocation into the new buildings is planned in several construction stages.

One focus of the project is the design of social infrastructures and communal spaces. Topics such as affordable housing, adaptation to climate change, mobility issues and a sustainable supply of renewable energy are being comprehensively implemented here.
