Bayer Headquarter

In 2002, the new headquarters of Bayer AG in Leverkusen was completed in the form of a wide-open half oval. The building, which is mainly clad in glass and steel, is intended to embody the far-sightedness and openness of the Bayer Group. It was designed by the architectural office of Jahn, Chicago; Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural and facade engineering.

Complete Glazing Embodies Farsightedness and Openness

The administration building with a reinforced concrete skeleton is approx. 190 m long and has a double-skin facade. Its entrance hall consists of a 15 m high, rope-stabilised glass facade and steel-glass connecting webs. The rectangular and also completely transparent pergola was built on a base area of 117 x 18 m with innovative Makrolon elements.
