As a premium service provider in the construction industry, in addition to planning classic construction projects, we are particularly interested in promoting culture by art engineering.
We have been supporting artists for many years in the structural realization of their art objects. In doing so, we have been able to clarify difficult issues and gain insights that also help us in our daily planning work. Our services range from object planning to structural and façade planning for special constructions to light reflection and glare studies. We are delighted with the beautiful selection of sculptures we have realized.
Stainless Steel Landscape Sculpture
Fallen Sky is a site-specific commission by Chinese-American artist Sarah Sze. The sculpture was installed on the grounds of the Storm King Art Centre in New Windsor (NY). Werner Sobek was responsible for the complete technical services as well as the light and glare analysis for this extraordinary project.
Artistic Interpretations of Mirage & Oasis
For the international open-air exhibition Desert X 2022, Werner Sobek planned three sculptures together with the artists Zeinab AlHasehmi, Dana Awartani and Stephanie Deumer. The client was the manufacturer of the sculpture workshop, the company UAP, and the location of the exhibition is near the oasis and cultural site Al-‘Ula in Saudi Arabia.
Walkable, Transportable Sound & Light Space
The artist Carsten Nicolai conceived the walk-in sculpture “syn chron” for the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, which simultaneously serves as a resonance space and projection surface. Electronic music composed by Nicolai creates laser light modulations on the translucent skin of the sculpture. “syn chron” is one of numerous art projects for which Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural engineering.
